Celebrate the love of a woman for her children with this Mother's Day Framed Sign Stencil Project from Oak Lane Studio.

Here's what you'll need:

What you'll need

The Children's Hands Craft Stencil is available in multiple sizes or, if you need, can be custom sized by calling Oak Lane Studio at (800) 334-1776. You'll also need a sheet of canvas paper and a frame whose sizes correspond to that of your chosen stencil.

Repositionable Spray Adhesive

First, turn your stencil over and spray the backside with some Repositionable Spray Adhesive, making sure to do so in a well-ventilated area and following all safety instructions on the can. Wait 30 to 60 seconds for the spray to become tacky.

Now, position the stencil on your canvas paper and press into place.

Americana Acrylic Paint

Shake your bottle of Americana Acrylic Paint in Mississippi Mud prior to to pouring out a small amount on a paper plate.

Preparing the Stencil Brush

After thoroughly soaking the bristles of your stencil brush, remove excess paint using the edge of the plate and by swirling the brush on a stack of paper towels.

The brush should be barely wet - too much paint on the bristles will result in bleeding underneath the stencil.

Stenciling

Swirl the pain through the stencilLight coatsContinue stencilingProceed until color is full and evenPeel away stencilStenciling complete

Apply the color in light coats using the same swirling motion that you used on the paper towel. Press a little more firmly with less paint on the brush to get into the the thin lines that make up the cursive letters.

When finished, peel away the stencil and wait a bit for the paint to dry.

Framing Your Sign
